Advanced Teaching Skills for Addressing Combat-Related Issues

Prerequisite

Warriors At Ease Level 1 course Fundamentals of Teaching Yoga & Meditation in Military Communities

 

This course includes instruction in:

  • Yoga for Trauma, Resiliency and Nervous System Regulation
  • Adaptive Yoga for Traumatic Injury and Invisible Wounds

 

You will have the opportunity to learn about:

 

  •  Combat-related injuries and gain a deeper understanding of military culture
  • How to address PTSD, TBI, amputations, spinal cord injuries and combat-related stress by using specific strategies, yoga and meditation to improve psychological health and help alleviate the symptoms of these conditions
  • Trauma-sensitive teaching guidelines and precautions
  • Yoga asana sequence protocols and modifications for the following military populations:
    • able-bodied service members with & without PTSD
    • older veterans with chronic physical illness & PTSD
    • veterans & service members suffering from major physical illness, TBI, spinal cord injuries and/or amputations
    • veterans & service members in wheelchairs
  • The neurophysiology of PTSD, how the nervous system is impacted by war-related trauma/military sexual trauma
  • Breathing techniques that are most effective in reducing the symptoms of stress and trauma
