Karen holds master’s degrees in both Clinical Social Work and Education, and is a senior iRest Yoga Nidra trainer. She has worked in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings over the past 35 years.
In 2007, she began the iRest Yoga Nidra meditation program at the Washington DC VA Hospital as part of the Integrated Health and Wellness Program. While at the VA, she also taught traditional yoga classes.
Karen has observed firsthand how yoga and meditation can to be beneficial adjunctive treatment for alleviating the symptoms of PTSD, Substance Abuse, Anxiety, Depression, and Chronic Pain. In addition to her work at the VA, she is a founding partner of Warriors at Ease. Her intention is to weave together my years of clinical experience with the mind/body practices of yoga and meditation in order to empower and support people so that they may live life in a calm more balanced way.
