Carolyn Patrick will serve as a member of the Board of Advisors for Warriors at Ease by supporting the organization’s advocacy and outreach within the DOD, VA, and other military-affiliated organizations. Carolyn was a military child who moved a dozen times before joining the family business in service to their country and retired 26 years later as an Air Force Officer. Her interest in understanding human behavior led her to study psychology and she earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Psychology as well as a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Air War College. For the first 50 years of her life, the Air Force was her home, passion, and purpose. In 2019 she founded Starfish Warrior Yoga, with the primary goal of making yoga and meditation accessible to veterans.
The fantastic training and support I received inspired me to finish writing a book that journals how I made peace with my past and discovered purpose and authenticity after the military. When the pandemic hit just two months later, sidelining my yoga teaching, writing became my new focus. Through networking, I have found incredible resources for aspiring writers. For me, writing provided healing and growth benefits very similar to yoga, which helped me process and overcome traumatic events. I dedicated my first book, True Feathers, to WAE out of appreciation for all they have done for me.
